The Global M.I.C.E Summit is an annual conference and expo that brings together experts and industry stakeholders in the Meetings & Business Events Industry (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences & Exhibitions) with a focus of analysing global trends and opportunities. The event showcases innovative and sustainable products and solutions that are driving forward Africa’s MICE industry.

The Campaign

The first annual Global MICE Summit was held on November 29th-30th 2018 at Intercontinental hotel. The summit, whose theme was, Leveraging Sustainable MICE Practices for Economic Development, brought together participants from the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segment of the Tourism Sector to identify sustainability trends and practices within the Meetings & Events industry.

The Summit had three thematic pillars: Sustainable Development, Economic Development and Tech & Innovation.

The 2019 summit will take place between 11th and 13th September, 2019 at Trademark Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.

Resolutions

The following are resolutions from the 1st annual Global MICE Summit

  1. Recognize the players within the MICE Space who have exuded extra ordinary character in line with the criteria set out by the Global MICE Summit Committee through Africa MICE Awards.
  2. Provide information on the diversity, potential and vast capacity of the MICE industry on the African continent through it’s A MICE World E-magazine.
  3. Strengthen collaboration, cooperation and coordination among investors, practitioners, academicians and regulators of the MICE industry
  4. Consolidate existing data from MICE industry players as well as conduct a Baseline Survey to give a bottom line of the industry as at now.
  5. Develop Key Performance Indexes (KPI) or matrices that measure the Economic and Social impact of MICE beyond the visible and obvious numbers
  6. Establish an institutional or legal framework of the MICE industry.
  7. Crease efforts to deliberately engage the community at the destination through participation or partnership. This will promote inclusivity and ownership.
  8. Intensify efforts to ensure that the industry gets rid of single use plastics and reduce carbon footprint through sustainable transport, supply chain and energy source in a bid to achieve sustainability.
  9. Conduct capacity building training to relevant stakeholders on; The Mice industry, sustainable practices, research, writing proposals and bidding for events.
  10. Embrace technology which will minimize on cost, promote sustainability and create experiences for the attendees
